Plan approved to save land at Hammond Estate in Montecito
The Board of Supervisors endorsed in principle a plan by a Montecito group to preserve 22 acres of the Hammond Estate as open space. First District Supervisor Frost outlined a process for private funds to buy the oceanfront land, deed to the county, then lease back via the committee. Pasadena Savings and Loan, owner, backs the plan. Topodynamics has no option on the land. The board also authorized transferring 25,000 and waiving competition to secure cheaper paper stock before costs rise due to shortages in low grade paper.
