Moretti Defies Will of Californians on Death Penalty

Homeowners who missed the April 16 deadline for the $1,750 property tax exemption may still file late for 80 percent relief. The last filing date is June 15. Insignis hearing set on rezoning near Solvang for Duff Ranch

The Board of Supervisors schedules Tuesday May 29 at 2 pm for a public hearing on Planning Commission approval of rezoning the north 121 acres of the former Duff Ranch near Solvang for a recreation residential community by Insignis Inc. of Santa Barbara. A tract map and a conditional use permit for an 18 hole golf course are also in play. Additional hearing on amending zoning ordinance to delete certain residential uses from PI and SC districts is planned. The board also makes appointments to county bodies, naming James M. Slater to Airport Committee and Francis H. Beattie to Local Agency Formation Commission with Frank J. Frost as alternate.

Children to Have Day at Mission Fiesta in Lompoc

The La Purisima Mission Fiesta adds a children’s day on May 19 alongside the main celebration May 20. Activities include demonstrations by Jessie Ramming School students, a 1 pm children's parade, crafts, and a three-age group costume contest with prizes. The event also features a 11 am mass on the second day and musical program.
