Feather River water costs to rise for 1970
Santa Barbara County officials were informed the Feather River water charge for 1970 will total 364,634 dollars, with the current year’s bill at 246,500 dollars. Transportation maintenance costs and higher capital and operating charges drive the increase, linked to the State Department of Water Resources contract and annual charge substantiation. County protests about past charges are noted, with similar actions anticipated for 1970.

Lompoc Dam Feasibility Tied to Regional Survival
County Planning Commissioner Robert C. Lilley of Lompoc argues the Lompoc Project is a matter of survival for the 50 000 residents in the Lompoc Valley. He cites a Bureau of Reclamation report showing overdraft conditions and supports building the dam to protect prime farmland and provide needed water, stating delays raise costs and threaten agricultural land without the project.
