Fire destroys two Goldwyn Studios sound stages in Hollywood

A multimillion dollar blaze at Sam Goldwyn Studios in Hollywood destroyed sound stages 4 and 5 during filming of Sigmund and the Sea Monsters. Three injured, 60 on set, 250 firefighters battled the four hour blaze caused by a short circuit.

Pulitzer Prizes Awarded to Reporters for Nixon Exposure

Columbia University trustees awarded Pulitzers for national affairs to James R. Polk of the Washington Star News and Jack White of the Providence Journal for exposing Nixon income tax issues and campaign finance improprieties. Polk highlighted secret fundraising and a $200,000 Vesco donation. White disclosed Nixon tax payments for 1970 and 1971. Robert Lowell won the poetry prize for The Dolphin. no fiction or drama prizes were awarded.

SLA hideout described as armory in Hearst case

In San Francisco the abandoned SLA apartment once used as an armory contained weapon fragments and drilling noise noted by neighbors. FBI sought Hearst fingerprints as investigators consider another action by the group while Miss Hearst, 20, travels with the abduction crew.
