County Payroll System Change Set

County Administrative Officer Raymond D. Johnson says re programming of the county payroll will start July 1 affecting about 2000 employees. A prior proposal to pay on the fifth working day was deferred after protests to avoid hardship. A new system may be implemented around March 1, 1970, with centralized records for sick leave vacation and overtime.

Welfare officials asked to review county cases for removal

County Welfare Director Arthur Nelson and County Counsel George P. Kading were directed by the Board of Supervisors to identify welfare cases that can legally be removed from the rolls. They were told to report back in two weeks following an executive session on the welfare matter Monday.

Phelps urges countywide plan for state water system

Virgil Phelps of the County Flood Control and Water Conservation District urged a countywide water plan for the State Water Project. He proposed connecting the Lompoc and Cachuma reservoirs via a line from the Coastal Aqueduct terminus at Santa Maria to better manage storage and flood control. Edmonston said the suggestion would be considered and coordinated with Santa Ynez River and other local agencies.

Reagan denies rumor on gas tax increase
