Jobless rate hits 34 year high in April
UPI reports April unemployment rose to 8.9 percent, the highest since 1941, as more people sought work while payrolls rose 237000 to 4,086,000. Unemployment increased 196000 to 8,176,000. 430000 entered the labor force. Construction and manufacturing showed record highs.
