Lompoc to rule on wrecking yards Tuesday
Lompoc City Council will hold a public hearing Tuesday to adopt an ordinance declaring automobile wrecking yards at 1030 W Laurel Ave and 333 N Second St a public nuisance. The move ends a long series of negotiations begun after amended nonconforming use rulings in 1964 and 1967 with deadlines to relocate by 1970 and extensions granted.

Karate expert airman jailed after drag race melee
A 19 year old Air Force airman Lorenzo Renteria was jailed on 16734 bail after deputies chased him from a drag race on West Ocean Ave. He faces eight counts including injuring a police officer battery on officers DUI and reckless driving. The pursuit ended when his car spun out on O Street Apricot Ave and he was taken after a struggle. His wife and baby were present in the car. One deputy was injured. The other drag race car escaped.

Amtrak takes over rails as Union appeal rejected
