Arbitrator named in firing hearing for Warren B. Matthew
An arbitrator Ted Ellsworth from Los Angeles was chosen to conduct a new binding style hearing starting May 24 over the dismissal of Warren B. Matthew, senior county probation officer, after the Civil Service Commission halted its prior hearing. Dana Smith said the county and SEIU agreed on Ellsworth amid questions about influence from Supervisor Robert E. Kallman. The case stemmed from charges of insubordination and a transfer to an unfamiliar post. The hearing could last three to four days and involves the Probation Department.
