Plan to map use of all La Purisima Mission land

The State Division of Beaches and Parks is to craft a master plan for the entire 960 acres at La Purisima Mission. The Mission Advisory Committee unanimously approved the resolution, citing underuse and calls for better surveillance and staffing. The panel also weighed overnight camping feasibility and environmental design as the Fiesta approaches May 18.

General Yahya Khan Becomes Pakistan President

Gen Yahya Khan, who has ruled Pakistan since last Tuesday under martial law, assumed the presidency today. Nine car train to carry Eisenhower body to Kansas

A nine car three engine Chesapeake and Ohio train will bear Dwight D. Eisenhower’s body. The funeral train departs Washington Union Station at 6 p m EST and heads toward Abilene Kansas arriving Tuesday night. Hearing Set On 500000 Bond Issue For Fire Station

A public hearing before Lom City Council is scheduled for 7 30 p m tomorrow on approving a 500000 bond election to finance a new fire station headquarters and related improvements. The plan funds a 398770 station, 50250 alarm system, and 15000 training site with bonds repaid by a 12 cent tax levy. The site is city owned at Maple and Streets. A citizens committee led by Kenneth Wicks was named to back the bond.

President Nixon met Charles de Gaulle at the White House for about an hour amid Eisenhower funeral ceremonies. De Gaulle arrived for the bier tribute at the Capitol and returned to Paris after a courtesy call with Nixon.
