Nixon to announce wage and price guidelines

President Nixon plans to set government guidelines for wage and price increases in construction after a 1:15 p.m. meeting with Secretary Hodgson. He will sign an executive order creating labor management boards to rule on settlements for plumbers carpenters and other crafts and may reinstate the Davis Bacon Act to require prevailing union wages on federal jobs.

Delta launches ISIS B satellite from Vandenberg AFB

A McDonnell Douglas built Delta rocket is set to orbit ISIS B an ionospheric study satellite from Vandenberg AFB. The 575 pound Canadian built satellite carries 12 experiments the most aboard any ionospheric payload. The launch marks the second ISIS satellite and fourth joint US Canada ionosphere program flight.

Irrigation Institute Planned by Local Advisors

An Irrigation Institute will be held tomorrow and April 6 at 7 30 p m at the Holiday Inn in Santa Maria. Growers and agribusinessmen are invited to attend two sessions with topics on water movement in soil irrigation methods and crop water needs. University of California specialists from Riverside and Davis will discuss drip irrigation principles and water quality while sessions cover irrigation for lima beans garbanzo beans and vegetable crops and vineyard and citrus irrigation management.

Undersheriff Appointment Fails As Inspector Denies Post

Efforts to appoint a county undersheriff stalled after Inspector John C. Gorham of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department declined the post. Inspector Graham, 41, had been the preferred choice and had been approved at top-range pay, but reconsidered after media announcements and family concerns. The board may reexamine remaining candidates or issue a new eligibility list.

Dr. Claude Fly hospitalized after hostage ordeal

Five Hurt in Weekend Traffic Crashes Across Santa Barbara Area

Five people were injured in weekend traffic accidents in the Santa Barbara region. Allen Durward Lester, 44, and Anthony Urquides, 19, sustained minor injuries and a fractured leg respectively.
