Divelbiss Named County Planning Director

The Board of Supervisors selected Herbert Divelbiss as county planning director. Administrative Officer Raymond D. Johnson announced at a County Planning Commission meeting. Divelbiss, a Goleta Valley resident now in Los Olivos, starts April 1, replacing retiring Richard S. Whitehead after 23 years. Initial salary 1399 dollars monthly. Thirty six applicants applied. four were narrowed to finalists.

FCI bridge to reopen on Monday after floods

The FCI bridge will reopen to traffic Monday March 31 announced by Vandenberg officials. The Bailey type bridge replaces the washed out span from January 25 and the subsequent flood damage in February. Motorists on Florida Avenue should proceed with caution as they approach the bridge.

Suit Filed Over Local Two Car Accident In Solvang

A Solvang family sues a Mission Hills woman in Santa Maria Superior Court seeking more than 200 000 for injuries and other expenses from a two car crash at Rucker Road and Lompoc Casmalia roads on May 18. The suit names Elaine C McKay and cites injuries to multiple Barrett family members.

Four injured in Lom poc police family crash

The wife and three children of a Lom poc policeman suffered minor injuries when their car, driven by Ira C. Williams III, collided with a car driven by 17 year old Paul Christopher Campbell. The collision occurred at North H Street and North Avenue about 6 30 p m. Both drivers were uninjured and all injured were treated and released from Lompoc Hospital. A second minor to moderate collision occurred near the Wye intersection involving Mari an Skalnik and Jose Medina Hernandez with minor damage.

Santa Barbara Channel drilling may resume this week

Interior Secretary Hickel said some wells in the Santa Barbara Channel could resume production by week’s end under new California coastal regulations. He noted lease-by-lease review, including Phillips Petroleum, with stricter rules reducing the chance of a Santa Barbara incident.
