Ranchette Project Lines Reopened by Santa Barbara Board

The Board of Supervisors paused determinations on the 63 lot Ranchettes subdivision east of Los Olivos after a tentative map was approved March 11 with an environmental impact report noting groundwater and growth concerns. Attorney Royce Lewellan of Solvang led the proceeding.

Stolen diamond ring reported from Lompoc locker

A $400 diamond engagement ring owned by Sharon Beck of 612 A W Chestnut Ave was reported stolen from a locker at Lompoc High School. Police note a late section on local weather and upcoming community meetings and projects in Lompoc.

Lompoc High Clenches Santa Barbara Chess Crown

Lompoc High School won the 1974 Santa Barbara County High School Chess League title with Calvin Welsh defeating Keith LaBand of Cabrillo High. Cabrillo edged Lompoc on several boards but Lompoc secured a 5-3 edge to claim the crown and the Supervisor Beattie perpetual trophy.
