Mother and child injured in one car roll over crash

A woman Mrs Barbara J Vallegas and her five year old daughter Lisa were injured yesterday after a one car rollover on Highway 246 one mile south of Lompoc. They were taken to Lompoc Hospital. Police report the car struck a utility pole after the driver lost control on a curve.

A coalition of 18 coastal cities failed to win full backing for a plan to halt oil and gas drilling in the Santa Barbara Channel. Ventura and Los Angeles area officials rejected the move though Joe J. Callahan backed a partial approach. Orange County managers will draft a skeleton bill to seek tighter local state controls and higher oil royalties with state and federal oversight.

Pakistani Students Burn American Flag Outside Embassy

About 100 students gathered in Karachi to burn a U.S. flag outside the American embassy while others protested near the West Pakistan governor's house. No violence occurred as the crowd dispersed peacefully after the act. Police from three trucks were stationed at the embassy for hours to guard the gate.
