Flood case verdict debated before Supreme Court
UPI reports Curt Flood’s challenge to baseball’s reserve clause described as a hard core violation of antitrust law by former New York Justice Goldberg while club owners’ attorney argued the clause prevents a game turn to a shambles. The court heard oral arguments and will rule by June. Flood refused to report to the Phillies after being traded from the Cardinals, sat out 1970, briefly played for the Senators in 1971, and then lived in Europe.
