Chase on car hood ends in crash and arrest

In Los Angeles Samuel Fisher pursued a jewelry thief who grabbed a $75,000 diamond tray. He clung to the car hood during a 60 mph getaway until a crash stopped them and a bystander helped subdue the suspect. David Henricks, 35, was booked on grand theft suspicions.

New Senate Panel to Probe Radical Groups

The four member Senate subcommittee headed by Sen. Dennis E. Carpenter will examine radical group activities while denying any statewide witch hunt. Fellow members include Sens. John L. Priests Push End to Mandatory Celibacy in Catholic Church

The National Federation of Catholic Priests Councils, representing 34,000 priests, urged the church to permit marriage and allow dioceses to admit married men. The group called optional celibacy a choice and urged returning priests who married. The proposal passed 182 to 23 with 3 abstentions.
