County Administrator Responds To Employee Union Criticism

County Administrative Officer Raymond D. Johnson told Zack Stringer of the County Employees Assn that a report on unemployment insurance will be presented by early April per the association’s suggestions and a July memorandum. He also noted the four day work week pilot in some county units, amid layoffs at the Santa Barbara General Hospital laundry. Stringer cited worker displacement and said the poll showed interest in a 10 hour day and shorter week.

Cachuma Fishery Advisory Committee Names Six Members

Park Director Michael Pahos announced the Cachuma Fishery Advisory Committee, naming William L. Sanford Glenn Todd Tom Lingham Jr Bill Brooks Howard Bernth Russell Reed and Shoken Sasaki. The panel will advise on fish planting at Lake Cachuma and planting frequency. There is a separate note on airport land use planning urging a dedicated aviation planning body.

Supervisors delay UC fire station decision

County supervisors postpone action on transferring fire suppression duties for the University of California, Santa Barbara campus. The plan would create a dedicated station at the university site within Fire District No. 5, staff 12 university firefighters, and extend service to Isla Vista and surrounding unincorporated areas.
