Proponents of a school lunch program rally ahead of a board meeting to hear a State Board of Education official discuss feasibility and possible federal funds. Hospital to study earthquake standards in Lompoc

Directors of the Lompoc Hospital District ordered administrator Ken Wicks to meet state officials next Tuesday to review new earthquake standards for medical facilities. The board, with three of four members present, postponed a replacement for Don Ausbrooks and kept the fourth member’s meeting date, citing staff scheduling conflicts.

Winds Trigger Power Outage in Lompoc Area

High winds caused a 50 minute power outage in the southwest Lompoc neighborhood as two cables shorted at Olive Avenue and O Street. The fault also silenced KLOM and affected 262 PG&E customers west of Douglas Avenue. A hawk or possibly a vulture perched on Douglas Avenue cables, causing a short circuit and killing the bird.
