Court fines and probation for Jones in Lompoc case

Earl Willard Jones 55 of 509 S St pleaded guilty to a drunk charge and resisting arrest in Lompoc Justice Court. He received two years probation and a 250 dollar fine after arrest February 8 at Walnut Avenue and O Street. Judge Terill F Cox presided.

Supervisors urge Reagan to curb offshore oil drilling

The Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors unanimously approves a resolution urging Governor Reagan to press President Nixon and Interior Secretary Hickel to suspend permanently oil and gas drilling in the Santa Barbara Channel. They seek rescission of leases and removal of drilling facilities, including four major platforms, from federal waters beyond the three mile limit. The board also asks Reagan to confirm approval and actions to meet the aims, backed by conservationist Robert O Easton. A Blood Bank notice follows about a bloodmobile visit to Lompoc.

Kiwanis Seek County Aid for Vocational Rehab Center Plan

Kiwanis Club of Santa Barbara representatives with Ventura County officials urged the Board of Supervisors to fund part of a proposed vocational rehabilitation center for the handicapped on the South Coast. The project totals about 115000 to 125000 dollars with Kiwanis about 12000 and Santa Barbara city 7500. county aid hoped at 15000 and the State Rehabilitation Department would provide around 50000 in supplies and equipment. County Supervisor John Conlan endorsed past similar programs and said they help handicapped individuals gain independence and leave welfare. The board referred the request to Administrative Officer R D Johnson for a budget hearing report after further talks with Kiwanis.
