Water district to aid Lompoc on supplemental water rights

The Santa Ynez River Water Conservation District authorized its engineer Thomas M. Stetson and attorney Stanley C. Hatch to help the City of Lompoc assess how much supplemental water is needed, when, and at what price. They will review data on underground water rights in the Lompoc Plain and report within three weeks to a month.

Shuttle committee in Sacramento meet with Governor Reagan

California Coordinating Committee for the Space Shuttle led by Lompoc Mayor Arthur Scott travels from Santa Maria Airport with about 14 members to brief Governor Reagan on bringing the space program to California. They return to Lompoc late this afternoon. Weather remains fair through Thursday with coastal overcast mornings and highs in the 50s to 60s.

Montalban Reaches Out to Mexican American Inmates

Actor Ricardo Montalban spoke to about 250 Mexican American inmates at the Federal Correctional Institution as part of MARCOS efforts. He toured the camp, addressed the PUMA group, and urged education and self help while praising inmate and staff efforts.

Medina denies ordering killings at My Lai

Lettuce boycott order withdrawn in Capitol brief

UPI reports a Capitol lettuce buying order favoring UFWOC labels was quickly rescinded after a staff error. Dellums cited Capitol restaurants told to buy Union Label lettuce. Talcott said the directive was rescinded and shops may buy any lettuce with a union label, including Bud Antle Co. product.
