Yankee Blade shipwreck legends cited by Lompoc Society

Isaac Bonilla presented a program on the 1854 Yankee Blade wreck for the Lompoc Valley Historical Society. Divers Harold W. Anderson and Richard Smith recovered a 500 pound cannon, a porthole rim, two anchors, and paddle wheel bearings in 1967, all green with age. They hoped for gold at Saddle Rock but found no coins, noting coal from a later wreck may hide the treasure. The gilt eagle from the pilot house was also discussed.
