Seven injured in head on crash near Lompoc
Seven people were hurt, two seriously, in a two car head on collision on Highway 1 four and a half miles south of Lompoc. Charles Johnson Jr. 38 and David Ross Johnston 17 were the most seriously injured.

In Lompoc eight candidates competed for two council seats. VAUGHN PROCTOR reports Valencia led with 1698 votes and Ward captured 1654 as turnout reached about 52 percent despite rain. Rodgers trailed with 1434, others ranged from 880 to 181 votes as returns came in from nine precincts.
