County moves to downzone Santa Ynez Valley farmland
Santa Barbara County supervisors adopt an ordinance downzoning large tracts to protect fertile land from urbanization. The measure, effective in 30 days, follows three years of planning with 85 000 acres considered for rezoning and 12 000 kept at current zoning. Public hearings continue March 16 and 21 as remaining sectors are reviewed.
