Four U S Copters Hit as Vietnam Truce Attacks Rise

Four unarmed U S helicopters used by truce teams were struck by gunfire over five days, wounding one American, as ICCS protests were lodged with the Joint Military Commission. Fighting increased across South Vietnam and Cambodia as truce lulls reportedly ended.

Zaca Lake resort sale proceeds toward county camp use permit

The sale of the Zaca Lake resort near Los Olivos to Cal Pac Recreational of Los Angeles was confirmed today and the new owners will seek a conditional use permit for a major overnight camp area. County supervisors had urged enforcement of the zoning ordinance over alleged violations by current operator Howard Olsen, who had earlier been denied a use permit due to lack of ownership. Olsen is a partner in Cal Pac. the property was bought from Mrs. Ann Jackson.

Jury finds four Manson followers sane in Covina raid

A Los Angeles jury ruled four members of the Charles Manson family sane and responsible for robbing a Covina beer distributor and attempting to steal 143 rifles and shotguns from a Hawthorne surplus store. The four, two men and two women, were already convicted as the sanity phase followed the trial. The panel deliberated about one hour and 45 minutes.

Raw farm prices rise to record on 30 day period

Prices of raw farm products jumped 3 percent to a record in the 30 days ending February 15, led by beef cattle and hogs with soybeans at an all time high. Wheat eggs and corn fell, while overall raw prices rose 22 percent from a year earlier. Critics urged price controls despite White House opposition.
