Mary Woods is appointed fashion show coordinator and commentator for the 1976 Santa Barbara County Fair to be held July 20 25 at the Santa Maria grounds. Daily fashion and entertainment shows will feature outfits from Wearhouse Fashion Outlet Made O Day Shop and Hide A Way Leather with new colors and trends for the bicentennial year.
William and Mrs. White marked 25 years with an open house in Dasmalia while their sons hosted a June 20 celebration. Henry and Lina Williams celebrated 27 years in Lompoc with family. Local seniors groups and Soroptimists modeled at the fair fashion show featuring Letser Goatley Beauty Colleges and Hide-A-Way leather items, with music from Godden Organ and Piano Center.
Betsy Hoss in old fashioned dress presided over the Alpha Club event as dignitaries toured the Veterans Memorial Building displays. Commercial firms Burpee Denholm and Badger Seed led the lawn and lobby exhibits with patriotic reds whites and blues. Visitors included Mary Ann Biddle Vaunita Main Stephanie Smith and JoAnn Neurouth at the Valley Club luncheon hosted by Lompoc Quota Club.
Suzan Jean Comer married Gary Lee Clift in a June 19 ceremony at Vandenberg Chapel. The bride wore her mother’s candlelight satin wedding gown with French lace and a chapel train, daisies, lace cap veil, and carried rosebuds with blue and lilac accents. Officiant Chaplain Jerry Rhyne presided as Sharon Kay Thompson served as matron of honor.
Lompoc Chapter Parents Without Partners plans a July fishing derby with chapters from Oxnard Ventura Santa Barbara Santa Maria and Santa Marguerita joining. Boats depart Sea Landing Santa Barbara at 1230 pm on Saturdays and Sundays with 530 pm returns, while the following weekend boats depart 630 am Saturday and noon Sunday. Tickets cost 550 each. Prizes include largest fish each trip and a grand prize for the month. A beach picnic accompanies daily derby participation, with reservations via phone 6-1588.
