Pest survey underway in Santa Barbara County
A joint effort by the County Agricultural Commissioner and the California Department of Food and Agriculture launches an intensive pest survey across residential areas, croplands, rangelands, forests and storage centers to detect alien pests. Trained biologists will conduct a residential grid survey and verify permissions before private property entry to curb incipient infestations and protect farms, homes, and ecosystems.

About 205 jobs could be maintained, down from 288 afloat, as attrition and private industry absorption reduce the funded total.
