Lompoc marks its 19th Flower Festival with a three day lineup including a floral float parade on Saturday featuring 11 floats with over a million blooms. Other attractions include rock concerts carnival rides flower shows a western states art show quick draw contest and an all comers chess tournament. The Grand Prize winner Sunday awards a two week Pacific air and sea voyage valued at 4000.

Allan Hancock College trustees approve across the board raises
The Allan Hancock College board approved six percent salary hikes for instructors and classified staff and a 25 cent per hour increase for night school instruction to be paid by June 30. They rejected fringe dental benefits but approved longevity pay of ten dollars monthly after ten years and increments at 15 20 25 30 years. The district keeps the 50 cent tax rate and a publication budget on raises will be reviewed next month.
