Nevada Test Site Set to Detonate 200 Kiloton to 1 Megaton Device
Scientists will detonate a buried nuclear device code named Camembert at the Nevada Test Site Tuesday. The 200 kilotons to 1 megaton yield will be buried over 4000 feet deep, shaking Las Vegas up to 120 miles away and prompting evacuation near Beatty. The test follows previous blasts as a potential treaty with Russia to ban tests above 150 kilotons nears ratification with effects planned for March 31.
