Library repairs deemed minor at Lompoc library corner

Architect Stewart Kerr and engineer Fred Schot report the southeast corner of the Lompoc Public Library shows no structural failure. They say plastic flow in aluminum window framing caused the settlement, with repair costing about 100 dollars and a plan to trim frame lengths.

City Budgets Cut Across Utilities For 1973 74

The electric department salary line rises by nearly 12 thousand to 194 765 while two other utility budgets face reductions. Water costs drop 22 470 due to fewer capital projects and wastewater falls about 3 thousand. Water capital outlay is 33 465 versus 66 950 the prior year, and projects are trimmed from 98 665 requested to a smaller amount. Water salaries total 229 715 with plant costs at 373 620 reflecting a 30 thousand rise from chemical costs. Chemical expenses jump 20 thousand pushing chemical costs to 152 000 for the coming year. Wastewater totals 142 350, down from 145 030, with capital outlay at 2 390 and services and supplies about 58 945. Salaries for wastewater run 81 015. Solid waste sees higher salaries lifting total to 309 420 from 306 065, while capital outlay rises to 12 000 despite a 3 900 drop in other costs.

SAMTEC NCO and Airman of the Quarter Named

SAMTEC named Master Sergeant Don M. Young and Sergeant Daniel R. Harrington as its NCO and Airman of the Quarter. Young, from Palisade Colorado, led the Missile Ground Safety Office and contributed to the USAF Missile Safety Plaque win. Harrington, a San Jose native, has three years at Vandenberg and shown strong technical and safety problem solving.

King Family Concert At Civic Auditorium Tonight

The Festival committee presents Marilyn King and Kent Larsen in two performances at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. today in the civic auditorium. Tickets cost 2.50 for the matinee and 3.50 for the evening show with reservations at 6 1075. The King cousins join them with Joy, Inc. backing.

Minor injuries in Highway 1 crash near Santa Ana

David Aburto, 19, of Santa Ana, suffered minor injuries in a Friday traffic accident on Highway 1 and was treated and released from Lompoc Hospital. Details were not immediately available. A malfunctioning heater caused a small fire at Lions Inn Coffee shop and lounge on H Street and Central Avenue with no damage reported. James N. Dachtler, a Lompoc High School graduate, earned a BS at Suffolk University in Boston. The district office of Congressman Teague will be open Tuesday June 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Santa Maria Post Office Building to take contacts, with additional offices in Santa Barbara and Ventura. The YMCA offers a Modern Dance class starting June 25 for children and June 28 for older youth and adults.

Conservatory season opens with Music Man July 11

Lagomarsino pushes emergency funds for coastal commissions

Senator Robert Lagomarsino urged a $17,405 augmentation to the California Coastal Zone Conservation Commission to ease permit delays. Beachfront purchase for Lookout Park postponed

The Board of Supervisors dropped a $40 000 beach frontage acquisition from consideration for Lookout County Park on the Summerland ocean bluffs. The landowners two individuals and Southern Pacific Co. must approve a final price, with reactivation possible later if ownership questions and valuation concerns are resolved. The Lookout Park expansion uses a parking lot on land once owned by Seaside Oil Co.
