Paratrooper Base In A Shau Rescued After Attack
U S air power rescued a U S paratrooper base overlooking the A Shau Valley from North Vietnamese commandos who invaded it. 11 GIs were killed and 40 wounded, 31 Communist bodies found, as Navy dive bombers AC47 gunships and Army helicopter gunships fought the assault. Col Joseph Conmy called the outpost Berchtesgaden, two miles from the Laotian border, and the site was defended with mortar, small arms, and antitank grenade fire.

Evens Crew Face Negligence Claims Over Collision
