Commission to forego public hearing on El Capitan Ranch plan

The Goleta Valley general plan amendment to allow El Capitan Ranch rezoning for heavy housing and a large recreational complex was not heard publicly. The County Planning Commission discussed the issue, but the motion to hold a hearing was withdrawn as consensus pointed out conflicts with the master plan, while the Board of Supervisors approved the project 4-1 amid conservationist opposition.

13 Lompoc Residents Among 83 to Receive U S Citizenship

Eighty three new U S citizens were naturalized in a Pinal Superior Court ceremony led by Judge Floyd C Dodson. The group included thirteen residents from the Lompoc area with names and addresses listed. Local organizations provided lapel pins, booklets, voter info, and refreshments. Barbara Republican Assembly Lions Club and others supplied nonpartisan voter material.
