State funds health program for Santa Barbara migrants
Santa Barbara County will continue its health aid program funded by state allotment despite federal aid threats. The County Health Department will maintain services with changed administration and broaden eligibility to include all low income residents, including farm workers and Mexican-Americans. The program assists about 4,000 migrant workers in the Santa Maria Valley each summer and has drawn inquiries from Germany, Brussels, Thailand and the Panama Canal Zone.
