VW sales hit new May record in face of dock strike
Volkswagen dealers sold 52 047 new VWs last month marking the strongest May total since 1968 though year to date sales lag due to the three month longshoreman strike. A VW of America spokesman projected full year 1969 deliveries near 575 000 despite first quarter dock disruptions. In England, sick in at Loughborough General Hospital led patients to demand later awakening from 6 AM reveille, with a move considered to 8 AM.
