Developers race for permits in Goleta Valley amid water moratorium risk

Goleta Valley planners race to secure residential and commercial permits before a possible water connection moratorium by the Goleta County Water District. A survey shows 2,243 dwelling units in various stages of approval, potentially adding 8,000 water customers as the valley nears 70,000 residents. Large employers like Allstate and GM, plus a new Sandpiper Golf Course, would boost water use further.
