Farm prices rise in May after April dip

UPI reports May farm prices surged reversing April decline, lifting wholesale food costs since 1972 by 39 percent the largest 12 month rise on record. Overall wholesale prices climbed 2.1 percent in May with farm products processed foods and feeds up 4.7 percent led by excluding processed foods up 6.1 percent. President Nixon weighed new inflation strategy as price controls face mixed results.
