Robert C. Lilley and Veril Humpy Campbell will face a November run-off for the Fourth District county supervisor post after Lilley led with 949 votes to Campbell 639 and Holden 411 in 14 precincts totaling 2 091 ballots. turnout was 71 percent with Lilley strongest in city and Artesia precincts while Campbell carried Santa Rita and Buellton.

Membership open to all interested persons.

Eighty two Lompoc High seniors graduate in tonight’s auditorium ceremony led by speaker Walter C Prill of Southern Counties Gas. John Hoag will address the class as speaker. William E Larsen will present diplomas.
Mayor Harold Thompson urged residents to observe Clean-Up Week starting Monday. A city drive to remove weeds and debris from yards and vacant lots aims to welcome thousands visiting for the valley flower season and the Floral Festival. Street trucks will pick up yard clippings in alleys as part of an all-out effort.
The lone bid of 114400 for a home economics building at Lompoc High School was rejected by the school trustees in a special session Tuesday. New bids will be sought for a gymnasium and 12 Hapgood classrooms with bids expected in September and construction starting mid October.
Miss Marlene Azvedo selected to reign over a two day Lompoc Pentecostal association celebration June 16 and 17. She is daughter of John and Azvedo of Los Alamos and a Santa Maria High student. Attendants are Miss Gloria Sousa and Miss Bonnie Martin of Lompoc. Events include a June 16 dance at Veterans Memorial building, a June 17 Parade of Queens and Mass at La Purisima church, and a free barbecue at Miguelito park with donations welcomed.
Schools end term at 12 40 p m for all but kindergarten as summer vacation begins. About 1500 pupils wrap up their work and the three schools plan to finish duties Monday.
The Elsey family files a $35 000 claim against the City of Lompoc for injuries to William Elsey from diving off the three meter board at the municipal pool. The claim awaits official signing before council action.
Lompoc's Chamber of Commerce entry won first place in the out-of-town float division of the Santa Maria Elks parade for the second year. The flower covered float depicted the Melo dies in Flowers theme with festival queen candidates aboard a floral pipe organ and lyre.
