ST JOHN'S Nild UP I A ferryboat on its first run rammed an iceberg and sank in the North Atlantic late Thursday. All 112 aboard were rescued within eight hours by helicopters and icebreakers, with no injuries. 42 airlifted to Mary's Harbour and 70 taken to the icebreaker Sir Humphrey Gilbert.

Suspects held in Las Vegas kidnaping and bank robbery
FBI arrested Paul M Kodelja 30 a casino craps dealer on a $150000 bail for extortion in a $12 million kidnapping and bank robbery case. The other suspect Craig Otto 50 remained at large with no contact. The scheme targeted First National Bank of Nevada and involved hostage Reno Frazza and his wife Polly. Fraza delivered $1.2 million after threats and a fake poison injection. The crime occurred 45 miles west of Las Vegas in a remote desert area.
