Buellton Group Fights to Preserve Ambulance Service
Buellton Businessmen's Association voted unanimously at Pea Soup Anderson's Restaurant to urge the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors to retain ambulance service in the Santa Ynez Valley. The meeting also approved a $150 donation to the Anychild television workshop led by Mrs. Jackie Baldwin at Jonata School. Fifteen Jonata students in grades six through eight are involved, with $300 needed in total. The group introduced Miss Cindy Viker as their candidate in the Santa Ynez Valley July 4 queen contest, accompanied by her parents Mr and Mrs Dean Viker.

Youth theater to hold Alice in Wonderland tryouts in Solvang
Santa Ynez Valley Youth Theater invites children teens and adults to try out for Alice in Wonderland at Garden House Solvang Tuesday and Wednesday 3 30 to 5 p m with callbacks Thursday. The play opens September 4 5 and 11 and membership fees 10 fund production costs.

Roxanne Barnes to reign as queen at Old Santa Ynez Day
Roxanne Barnes a sixth generation Santa Ynez Valley family member will reign as queen of the Old Santa Ynez Day celebration on Saturday June 12. She will ride in the morning parade as hostess and greet attendees and award ribbons in contests. Roxanne 20, a 1974 Santa Ynez Valley High School graduate works at Solvang Pharmacy and enjoys water skiing and riding. The event lineup includes wagons carriages marching units and riders with grand marshals Mabel Henderson and Eddie Pico. A Santa Ynez style barbecue follows the parade with music by the Floyd County Boys and various booths offering drinks foods and games. A banner was hung across Sagunto Street announcing Old Santa Ynez Day.
