Police report five youths aged 13 to 15 used Myrval Quick's 113 North St. home as a private clubhouse while he was away. Over two weeks they ate from the pantry, watched TV, played pool, and fired a pellet gun at walls and antiques. They stole 50 silver dollars and borrowed a rifle and shotgun. Estimated losses reach $1,000.
The House Judiciary Committee began debate on a compromise impeachment article against President Nixon, aiming for broad Democratic backing and some Republican support. The draft retains nine charges from the original, including coverup and false statements, while softening language to win GOP votes. The panel plans a second article on abuse of power after voting the first.
President Nixon calls for restraint to ease inflation noting that tax cuts or wage price controls would worsen the crisis. He unveils 40 000 federal job cuts and a $5 billion budget reduction while veto threats target any excess spending as 23 nationwide policy conferences begin to explain federal action.

Teenager Mike Linthicum, clad only in trousers, helped fight the blaze with a garden hose as smoke damaged the adjacent house. Fire Captain Robert Haskell said the cause was under investigation.
A 38-foot fishing boat Jan Lynn ran aground in fog two miles north of Ocean Park. Three San Diego crewmen Paul Hawkins 56 Bob Phillipps 21 Brent Little 22 were rescued as Coast Guard Air Force and Santa Barbara County SAR aided. The Sea Chase another San Diego boat captained by Paul Hawkins assisted. high tide was needed to refloat the vessel.
Presidential attorney James D. St Clair and Special Prosecutor Leon Jaworski said the White House will deliver 20 subpoenaed Watergate tapes to U S District Judge John J Sirica by Tuesday. They would report on the status of the remaining 44 by next Friday and release as many as possible as available.
