Hearing Slated on trailers and living-quarters policy

The County Planning Commission schedules Aug 14 for a public hearing on a proposed policy to regulate large trailer coaches used as living quarters near Carpinteria and other county areas. Special moving permits may be required for trailers meeting size limits on highways.

Obituary of Richard Lopez 66 in Lompoc

Richard Lopez 66 died Friday at Lompoc District Hospital after living in Lompoc ten years. A rosary is 7 p.m. Tuesday at Gregory- McPeek Mortuary and a funeral mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday at La Purisima Catholic Church. Interment follows at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Survivors include wife Mary a daughter Theresa Lopez of Lompoc a son Richard Lopez of Japan and sisters Linda Larre and Jaanita Bell.

Carpinteria recall vote approved

A Carpinteria recall election for 54 year old City Councilman Kenneth Kilbourne will proceed on July 23 after Superior Judge John T. Rickard denied an injunction to halt balloting. The judge found city officials substantially complied with election code despite a seven day delay in publishing the notice.

Supervisors to act on county salary boosts and Goleta annex plan

County Supervisors will consider raising salaries for members from 14224 to 16500 per year following a two meeting citizens committee review.
