Village girl killed in crash near Vandenberg

Olivia Barnes 18 of Vandenberg Village died at Marian Hospital Santa Maria after a crash on Lompoc Casmalia Road involving a car driven by airman John Torrence 19 and another driven by Gregory Hill 18 of Lompoc. Torrence and two passengers were injured. Hill reported uninjured. An investigation is under way.

School trustees review $1.9 million windfall from court ruling

Judge voids Ehrlichman perjury count in Fielding case

UPI Washington Judge Gerhard Gesell threw out one perjury conviction against John Ehrlichman ruling the federal lie to FBI statute was not properly invoked. He ordered the guilty verdict set aside and a verdict of acquittal entered, while denying post trial motions on other counts.

Valley farm labor unrest spreads to Lompoc cooling plant

Union official Bart Curto said Lompoc Cooling Co workers asked the Teamsters union to represent them amid a Del Mar Packing Co strike. Bill Goforth denied the claim, noting about 12 workers expected at 11 a.m. and 60 workers in the Del Mar fields.
