House seeks to extend jobless pay to millions
The House passed a bill by 237 to 157 to extend federal state unemployment insurance to about 8.9 million more people, shifting much of the cost to states. The measure would cover 600,000 state workers, 7.7 million local government workers, 300,000 agricultural workers, and 300,000 domestic workers with broader state funding changes to follow.
