Lompoc school budget hike prompts special meeting
Trustees of Lompoc Unified School District set a 4 p.m. special meeting in the new district administration building on North A Street to adopt the 1969 70 budget. The 10.4 million expenditure plan adds about 500000 over the preliminary budget approved June 24. Governor Reagan SB 64 and possible federal P L 874 cuts threaten the district with larger revenue gaps and potential deficits.

Murphy backs writeoff plan to aid education tax relief
U.S. Senator George Murphy says he will back Reagan's education tax writeoff concept and will soon introduce legislation for a direct 1 percent federal income tax credit tied to state education payments. He also seeks a Senate study of Reagan's 1 percent deduction idea while noting mixed results in California legislation. Murphy argues the plan would let local governments meet school obligations without Washington brokerage fees.
