98 Percent Tax Collection Reported by Santa Barbara County
Santa Barbara County reports an 98 percent collection of the 1973 74 property tax period totaling 80 392 904 with about 1.5 million in arrears incurring penalties. Tax Collector Newton Blanchard urged delinquent taxpayers to call first for correct amounts at the County Administration office before mailing payments. More than 5.5 million above last year’s receipts will go to schools special districts cities and the county. Police also investigated a 3700 loss at Stop and Go Market and discrepancies involving 1541 deposit records and 2163 inventory losses at the store.
