A three day strike by Department of Water and Power workers cut power to thousands in Los Angeles and interrupted water to reservoirs. Vandals hit aqueducts while doctors warned of risks to an emphysema patient. Bargaining was set to resume as 7,000 workers walked off.

Nationwide weather report notes thundershowers from the northern Plains to the Atlantic coast. Bovey Minnesota saw golfball sized hail and Grand Junction Colorado faced 72 mph winds causing damage to aircraft, trailers, and power lines. Rain fell in the Rockies and Gulf states with Niagra Falls seeing over an inch in six hours. Temperatures ranged from 91 in Needles California to 52 in Quillayute Washington.

Bradley urges extended federal revenue sharing for cities
