County approves in principle Vandenberg Village rezoning plan
The County Planning Commission signaled approval in principle for Vandenberg Village Development Co. to rezone 3.46 acres for a nine unit cluster residential project on Club House and Oakwood, from U to DR-5, with a public hearing set and staff to draft an ordinance for next week. The panel noted the project would finish area residential development. Also, Marian Burke of San Antonio and Ruth Hildebrand of Houston won the $5,000 first prize in the 1973 Powder Puff Derby.

Goleta Teens Hospitalized After Refugio Road Crash
Two teenage girls from Goleta were hospitalized in Santa Ynez with head injuries after a single vehicle accident that also injured two companions. The occupants, Sheree Perkins 16 and Andrea Mister 15, were treated at Santa Ynez Valley Community Hospital while Harry Pt 16 and driver Robert Fielding Morris Jr 19 suffered lesser injuries. The crash occurred about 3 p.m. on Refugio Road three and a half miles south of Highway 246 after the car drifted off the road, struck a paddle marker, swerved and overturned into a ravine.
