Reservist Finder Finds Reward in Lompoc Police Work
Kelly Connell, 23, a reservist with eight months on the Lom Police Department, praises fellow officers as dedicated and describes the job as exciting and self satisfying. He works swing shifts, patrols Lompoc streets with ride alongs, explains standard stops for suspected drunken drivers, and balances duties at Santa Maria Radio Shack. The account follows a Friday night into early morning shift filled with patrols, checks, a chase interrupted by a train, and a final return to home and work obligations the next day.
