Local salmon fishing yields modest harvest and shifting patterns
Harbor Associates boats harvested about 141 salmon last week, a slight decline from the prior period, while bottom fishing remains strong at Point Sal and Purisima. Rock crabs show up in shallow water though illegal to possess. Dungeness crabs noted with size rules. Calico and sand bass continue to dominate Ventura Hueneme waters with offshore yellowtail and mackerel tails. Cachuma Lake trout activity rises as water warms.
