City budget debate continues without mayor in town

County Officer to Report on 1.4 Million Salary Item

County Administrative Officer Raymond D. Johnson said he will brief the Board of Supervisors tomorrow on revisions to the 1.4 million salary adjustment in the 1971-72 contingency fund. He said the review will compare pay levels with those of eight counties as of July 1, noting some have not finished wage talks. Stringer of the County Employees Assn. argues there is little to discuss until data from the eight counties is received.

Obituary A3C Weylin K Howell Killed In Collision

Weylin Keith Howell nineteen year old Airman died in a head on multi vehicle crash on Highway 166 seventy miles east of Taft. Services are set for 2 p.m. at Taft with burial in Westside District Cemetery. Survivors include his parents Mr and Mrs Elbert Howell of Taft. He had served in the U S Air Force since February and was stationed at Vandenberg AFB. Local arrangements are by McPeek Family Mortuary.
