Marlins Host Tri-County Swim Meet At Lompoc Pool

The Lompoc Marlins will host ten TriCounty Swim League teams at the Lompoc Municipal Swimming Pool with 325 swimmers and over 1 000 entries. Competition starts at 9 a m and the pool will be closed to public swimming all day Saturday. The meet aims to produce qualifying times for the league championship on Aug 9 at San Luis Obispo. Truckers Capture Pennant With One-Hitter Victory

Ron Melson pitched a one hitter and scored on a passed ball as the Truckers beat the Grange Sprouts 1 0 to seal a third straight Am erican League championship berth in Lompoc Little League. Sprouts pitcher John Rodriguez allowed two hits and nine strikeouts. Jeffers Mufflers defeated DeFrene Crane 21 0 and Red Kids beat Pizza Palace 102. Aaron earns 15th All Star berth for NL bid

Hank Aaron of the Atlanta Braves is named to his 15th All Star team as the National League lines up for the July 22 game in Washington.
