Court Hearing Set Monday to Contest Exxon Ballot
Presiding Superior Judge Floyd C. Dodson schedules a Monday 9 a.m. hearing on an election contest against Santa Barbara County officials Exxon Co U S A and the Inland Alternative Committee funded by Exxon The nine contestants allege election code violations including malconduct by the County Elections Office and voter disenfranchisement They say Exxon through the committee offered incentives to voters and used intimidation to sway support for the onshore facility versus an offshore option The contestants include Isla Vista residents and others from the South Coast The Board of Supervisors County Clerk Controller Howard Menzel the County Elections Office and Chief Elections Clerk Boblee Kirkpatrick are named as defendants
